Dear Jack,

I am really nervous about going to a new school. I have been home schooled my entire life because I look different.  My mom is worried that I will get bullied.

I look different because I was born with a disease that did not make my breathing normal.  The doctors had to rearrange my face so I could breathe better.  The doctors then tried to make me look better, but it gave me even more conditions, and they had to rearrange my face even more.  I am scared that I am going to get bullied even more.

I recently have been bullied by Julian.  He has been pushing me, calling me names, and writing rude notes on my locker.  He is trying to turn the whole school against me! He went to a party and said that you are being forced to be friends with me.  This made everyone feel bad for you, and everyone is getting together to break us apart.  What do I do?  Are you still my friend? I need help.

Hope you write me back,

August

Dear August,

Of course I'm still friends with you! Julian is being a bully.  Don't worry, it is okay to be nervous. I would be nervous if I was going to a new school too.  New schools are kind of weird because no one knows you for who you really are.   When you make friends it won't be so bad.

Just because you look different doesn't mean that you act different. If you act good, than that is your personality. People judge other people by their personalities more than what they look like.

I have an idea, if we act nice to everyone, then they will be kind to us. And soon they will notice that Julian is bullying us.  His personality will unwrap and everyone will see that he is being cruel.  Julian will have to give up because you will be nicer than anyone.

I hope that you found this helpful, do you want to play a video game tomorrow?

Jack
